Moortown House Reviews

We stayed here during October 2025 to celebrate our mums 60th Birthday. Our party consisted of Adults and children from the ages of 5 to 60 and we all had a fabulous stay! To say how big and old the house was it was well kept and spotlessly clean! The bedrooms were comfortable and had everything you required. The layout upstairs was different i.e with the bathroom down a few steps and down the corridor but it wasn't a issue for us, it just added to the character of the house. The kitchen was well equip with everything you could need, even birthday candles if you should forget your own. The star of the show is the swimming pool! Clean , warm and a good size with a small selection of inflatables. Our 5 and 7 year old didn't want to leave the house during the day as all they wanted to do was swim! The grounds were lovely too and we roasted marshmallows in the woods in the evening around the log fire. The owners do live in a small part of the house but you would never of known this as we only seen them once and that was to introduce themselves which was a nice touch. 5 stay we loved it so much so that we are returning again in March to celebrate my Dads 60th!

This was our third three generational holiday to Moortown House referred to as 'the Mansion' by the grandchildren. This year we stayed mostly on the premises, the grand children love the swimming pool and the six year old cast off his armbands and swam a width. The house is spacious and comfortable and surrounded by farmland. The addition of a permanent gazebo over the outdoor dining area is a good addition. It was very hot while we were there and we could always find some shade there. The installation of an electric charging meter in the parking area is also very useful. The only slight problem was the difficulty in getting connected to the internet this year as a couple of the children had work to complete.

A lovely property, full of character, and amazing grounds. The host was very accommodating and we were pleasantly surprised on all aspects, from the utensils in the kitchen, to the warmth of the pool, and the board games in the lounge. Having spoken to the host, it sounds like he has even bigger plans for this place. Its been very well looked after, and it became obvious why its fully booked when we reached the house.
This was a lovely house with good space for a large party and the owner Rob made us feel very welcomed and was a help with walks, etc. The younger of the group loved the tennis, we all swam, but it was too hot for the jacuzzi nice change for the UK! We could all eat together, sit together, etc., which just made it a joyous place to stay with friends who only see each other about once a year. With no ensuite bathrooms, the provision of robes was a lovely touch, though there were more than enough bathrooms. Everyone said their beds were comfortable. The EV charging was also great for us with an EV.
Beautiful house and grounds. We were three generations of the family and we all enjoyed our stay. Owners very helpful. There are no shops or pubs within comfortable for us walking distance so a car is needed for topping up the larder.
Tracey
Lovely house great facilities. Kids had a great time in pool and grounds. I would book again for large group holidays. Kitchen well equipped with all you need. Building was full of character. Owners were on site but apart from a gentle introduction on first day to ensure we had everything we needed we did not know they were there. My whole family had a great time and we made good memories
Perfect weekend with family lots of space inside & out. The house is well equipped everything was provided we just needed pool towels. We were expecting the pool water to be cold we were wrong it was really warm & a decent size. Didn't see the owners but they were just a text phone call away & really welcoming & helpful. Many thanks.

This was our second stay at Moortown House. The combination of bedrooms just nicely fits our multi generational family. The house and kitchen are very well equipped and we were welcomed by a delightful basket of local delicacies, including some honey from bees on the farm. We had a lovely week, the grandchildren and children were in the pool every day, often more than once. There are several places to visit within an hour's drive if a day out is on the agenda. A perfect place to unwind and just be together.
Richard
We celebrated our Wedding Weekend in this beautiful house with our family. The house itself is beautiful in a wonderful setting the views from the bedroom windows are so lovely. So many facilities including a tennis court, BBQ, fire pit to toast marshmallows, not forgetting of course the indoor heated pool and hot tub. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and the hosts are very friendly, helpful and there if you need them but otherwise not intrusive in any way lovely friendly people. The honey is beautiful!!!! Cannot recommend enough and many happy memories made in this house.
We had a really wonderful stay at Moortown House for an extended family gathering for my husbands 50th. The property was exactly as listed with plenty of space and a little old fashioned grandeur but super homely and welcoming. The kids of all ages loved the pool!, which was always warm despite traditional British weather. The tennis court and kids play area were also fantastic, with a football net, climbing frame, slide and plenty of space to run around. The little onsite lake and local walks from the door were beautiful loads of wildlife bees more varieties than weve ever seen!, rabbits, foxes, a huge variety of birds and if you look really closely some tiny fish in the lake. There was much to do we didnt even get around to using the hot tub or fire pit! The local fishing was great with a few options of fisheries within a 15 minute drive and we enjoyed a day trip to Horncastle with its mtiple antique shops and there is a cracking sewingfabric shop. The house was well equipped, beds comfy and enough seating for the whole family of 10. The kitchen was great too with plenty of crockery a huge fridge and freezer, plenty of pans and serving dishes and storage for your shopping. The owners took great care of us, checking we had everything and bringing us honey from their beehives. We would really recommend Moortown House and would love to return for the next big family get together.
Caroline
Absolutely fabulous. We hired this for a weekend for 12 friends and we had an amazing time. The owner popped by once to check everything was ok and even gave us some of the homemade honey from the beehives on site, otherwise not bothered at all. Very private with lots of things to do, between the pool, hot tub, tennis court and games provided croquet on the lawn anyone we were never bored. Would definitely come back don't hesitate to book you won't be disappointed. Oh and they've put a modern heating system in so although the house has got high ceilings it's still lovely and toasty warm.
Andrew
Great property. The pool is at a lovely temperature as is the hot tub. The beds are very comfortable with luxury linen. It would be a wonderful place in summer with a good size bbq and seating as well as a summer house. Great outdoor space for children, with play equipment and woods and lake to explore. If I had to criticise anything it would the seating in the sitting room. If there were 12 adults staying there, then there is inadequate setteesarmchairs for 12.
Amazing place to stay for all ages! We had a fantastic time. No need to leave the house but some lovely places to visit nearby.
We had a lovely stay here, the house is big with generous rooms and a great sense of history. The facilities were great and, despite it being February, we used the tennis court, pool and hot tub a lot. The kitchen is well equipped and the table easily seats 12. Our ages ranged from 6 to 70 and its a great house for a large family group. The owners live in a part of the property but left us entirely alone, but were contactable if required. We would thoroughly recommend this house.
Victoria
The owner covered every eventualities, we had a lovely stay, not to far from home but a really lovely weekend thank you so much. Forgive the last minute pots in the dishwasher
Great property for family holiday. We had 3 generations who all enjoyed the location and facilities. Very private setting, heated swimming pool was a hit with everyone as was the hot tub with the adults. Rob, the owner, was helpful but left us to enjoy our holiday.
Pauline
This was the only house I could find with a pool and the right configuration of bedrooms for the family. Within a couple of hours of arrival the 10yr old grandchildren declared the place 'brilliant'. They could come and go and do what they wanted within reason and keeping away from the pond. The house is in the country with plenty of walks round about and an exclusive use swimming pool big enough for the 8 of us to mess around in. The house has a nice 'feel' to it, the only draw back is if you have the ground floor room as we did. The floors are laminate and we could hear people moving about in the room above us, it also has the external back door which is closest to the pool etc. so was a bit of a thoroughfare during the day. We've enjoyed it so much that we've just booked for next year!
Robert
Great place for a family holiday. Everything on site to entertain the kids, 4yrs, 3yrs and 1yr, as well as 4 parents and 2 grandparents. Good to great pub restaurants nearby and owners were friendly, available and helpful when contacted but not at all intrusive. Definitely want to go again.
Katherine
Beautiful house in a lovely setting. We went to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary, 6 adults and 5 children 513yrs. The house was much bigger than we anticipated, the pool was a huge success, as was the play area and tennis court. We went for a walk directly from the house. Rob, the owner, brought us wood for the fire and fire outside. We'd absolutely love to return.
We gathered at Moortown house for a family celebration. The house met all our expectations. It was warm and comfortable with excellent facilities for a mixed age group. The young children enjoyed the well equipped play area and the whole family enjoyed the pool, which was also very warm. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond to any requests. I would highly recommend the property to others.
Nicola
Really loved it thank you
Gillian
We were a family of 11 6 adults 5 kids Lovely house very cosy and warm . Pool was great we all enjoyed ball games etc in there kids loved it . Walks nice didnt venture far from house as just wanted chill out away from everything . We did give feedback on what we thought would be nice to see ie kids chill out room downstairs which is currently a twin bedroom but rather than lose the bed space put a sofa bed in so could double up as both . Kitchen dining area were fab living room cozy everything was what you would expect from a old house . Rob the host was very accommodating and very approachable if he could help with anything he would . Gill Reg and family
Wonderful house. Decor a little dated for my taste. Lovely helpful host, Rob who was a star sorting out a piece of left luggage.
Had a fabulous stay at Moortown house. The photos do not do justice to how large the rooms are. The grounds are beautiful and being developed. The swimming pool was the real highlight for us. So warm it meant we could stay in there for a long time. 3 generations had a great week. Thank you to Rob and his wife for being the most friendly people you could meet.
Christine
The house was warm, spacious and comfortable the pool was wonderful and so lovely and warm and really made our weekend special. We were a family group of 3 generations and everyone had fun in the pool from the toddlers to grandparents. We enjoyed the grounds too and were even able to charge our electric car
This was a great place to stay with a larger family. The facilities are better than the pictures make it look the house is amazing. And the grounds are brilliant. Lovely fire pit outside where we did toasted marshmallows, nice fruit laden trees, and the area is super. There is a coffee and cake shop just a 5min drive away, and lots of nice walkrunning routes all around the house. The owners live just behind and were so friendly and helpful. Super nice people who were both incredibly friendly, but also not intrusive. The pool is brilliant. We took our little twin girls on their first swims here and it was great not to have to worry about being splashed in a busy pool. Also an easy hop off point to lots of places of interest around there Lincoln, we also went to the Humber Bridge, cleethorpes. Highly recommend the place
Catriona
We were three families totalling 10 people and the house was a fantastic size with plenty of space indoors and out. The inside of the house needs a little work eg squeaky floorboards, but the owners are aware and are planning some changes. Bathrooms are lovely. Outside facilities are excellent and we had fun playing tennis, cricket etc and enjoying the BBQ and fire pit. If anything, the listing understates the outdoor facilities. It was great to have the pool, which was lovely and warm. Rob and Peidi are very welcoming and helpful and there are nice touches such as books and games to borrow.
Great property owners really helpful the pool is fantastic this is to help them and should not been seen as us complaining insulate the hot pipes to prevent the house getting too hot and some TV's in the bedrooms and all TV's have a good reception Apart from that they have a fabulous property and thank you for a great week.
A great venue for a large family get together. Tonnes of space, well set up for children with two having two high chairs and space in every single room for travel cots or trundle beds provide your own. Nice big kitchen with everything you needed plus teas, coffees, biscuits and crisps, really nice touch. We had a private chef experience and there was plenty of space for him to cook. We also had a masseuse to deliver spa treatments plenty of space and perfectly flexible and welcoming hosts. Loads of seating for our 14 guests and fans for every room which is great for the summer months. Pool was warm and there were inflatables, the roof has definitely seen better days but it did the job and I understand they plan to replace it soon. The shed provides lots of equipment for outdoor games like tennis rackets. There is a fire pit which we hadnt seen in the advertisement, playground and a nice walk through the grounds. The twin room is downstairs with an external door so not suitable for children unfortunately. The curtains were all translucent which wasnt ideal for summer months. But I understand theyre currently replacing these. The downstairs is very tired but that shows in the photos and shouldnt be a surprise. The hosts plan continuous improvement so wouldnt let that put you off. When renovations are complete this will be an unbeatable venue for family getaways!
A lovely homely and comfortable property. Spotlessly clean. Pool was brilliant, warm and well maintained. Would absolutely book again in the future. Owners on site but not intrusive in any way but sorted a couple of minor problems with minimal fuss and in a very quiet friendly manner.
Denise
We enjoyed a fabulous long weekend at Moortown House. The property has a rich history and is a grand, comfortable country house. We all made full use of the warm indoor pool, and enjoyed walks around the lake. Rob was most welcoming and obliging and particularly kind in offering help when the baby in the family group was unwell. We recommend this property without hesitation !
The pool was amazing, so warm and a perfect size. The house was great too, very clean, well equipped kitchen and lots of space. Great outdoor space too, really lovely woods. The owners couldn't have been nicer. We will definitely go back.
Beautiful house and delightful, attentive owners. We had a superb family break at Moortown House and are looking forward already to the next time.
Joshua
The hosts were incredibly accommodating and were simply lovely, especially their beautifully Shiba! The house was bigger than I expected and perfect for us. Thank you guys for a wonderful stay.
Isabelle
Myself and all of my family had a wonderful stay at your property, the Pool was definitely a high favourite amongst all of us. All the beds were comfortable and bedrooms were extremely spacious. The property is absolutely beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay.
Just returned from a wonderful week at Parkland Hall. The photos provided do not do the property justice. The house is set in a beautiful location, with its own private garden, patio, bbq area and summer house. The tennis court has been resurfaced and has a brand new net. The Swimming pool is the main feature, which is easy to reach from across the lawn. The water was lovely and warm, our kids loved it. It is shallow in one end and goes to 2m at the other, we spent a lot of time in here. The house is really spacious and warm and although it is tired in some places due to the age of the house and some original features, this just added to the character of the property. The main facilities, including kitchen and bathrooms are all brand new and up to date and very clean. Basic, soaps, shower gels, toilet rolls etc were provided. The dining and living area are big and spacious and easily accessed from the kitchen. The only downside we felt was the lack of storage in some of the bedrooms, especially as the bedrooms are so big, but this is something minor and perhaps something to improve on for future. The layout of the property, mainly the upstairs, did take a little getting used to, but this just added to the kids excitement and was another feature of an older property. We visited a few local towns and villages and we must say that this part of the country is beautiful. Lincoln is definitely worth a visit. Also there are some lovely beaches south of Grimsby, they are worth the drive out to. We highly recommend Parkland Hall and would definitely return for another stay.
